Local life coaches who have a passion for helping fellow women are hosting a retreat in November to help participants grow their potential and enhance their lives. Empowerment sessions will include helping women to find strengths and passions such as business success, family peace and life leadership.
The coaches are part of the Frederick-based Women’s Coaching Coalition’s “Harvest Your Best Self” Retreat, slated to be held on November 12–13 at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia.
Energy leadership coach Laura Hall, a “retired” physical therapist for 15 years, chose to stay home with her young children 9 years ago. As they got older, she began trying to define herself and what she wanted to do when she stumbled upon life coaching. As a person of faith, Hall has always believed her life was guided and that her faith “gives you some freedom to be able to trust and jump into things that others think are crazy.”
In addition to participating in coaching at retreats such as this one, Hall does both individual and group coaching in her private practice. Life coaching is not meant to be “therapy” in the traditional sense. “To make the complicated simple, I’m working with women who are functioning,” she says. “I tend to attract women in their 40s. A lot of women, when we hit this stage, take a moment to pause and reflect on where we’ve been and where we want to go.”
Although individual counseling can be costly, Hall offers group coaching for a monthly fee that involves access to daily audio lessons, one in-person group session and two over-the-phone group sessions. Group sessions address issues in five life areas: health and wellness, relationships, life balance, money/finance and business, and spirituality.
“Women, in general, tend to take care of our kids, our families, our jobs. There’s a list of things that have to happen before we put ourselves on our own list,” Hall says. She challenges women by saying that “when we feed and fuel ourselves, we are better equipped to do those things we need to do.”
Retreat participants have the option of attending both Friday and Saturday, which includes a Friday overnight stay or they can choose to participate for one day on Saturday. Registration fees are $247 (with overnight stay) and $167 (Saturday only fee). Registration information can be found online by visiting www.wholisticwomanretreats.com.
